Composite For movie

So I've been busy working on the character rigs, but I thought I'd try another composite test.
No animation just another still for now.

Just a minor change to this characters face. Mostly I moved the eyes closer together.

The Future History of Mankind

Here it is, my (neo)Surrealist Animation

The Future History of Mankind is a series of scenes both directly, and indirectly inspired by my dreams, and by the works of the Surrealists. Prior to this project, most of my animated work has either been for computer games, or else were created using 2D techniques.

The experimental nature of this animated short allowed me to explore ideas and concepts I may never have otherwise never attempted.

In order to create a work which would be true to the surrealist vision, I found it more important to recreate the images of my dreams, rather than rely on the heavy handed insertion of Freudian symbols into my work.

I focused on an implementing a different aspect that I find interesting about surrealism and the subconscious mind in each scene.

The end result is a hammering of Automatic imagery, Symbolism, Altered Reality, Dreams, Nightmares, and Anxiety which is thrust upon the viewer.

My Games

I have been working on a few concept games I thought I would post.

I have been doing it for years, but don't have much online (anymore).

This is a stealth game I made in a week, haven't had the chance to complete it because of school.

PLAY IT HERE!

This game requires DirectX 9
I'll start posting more.

Birdman-Lowpoly

I just retopologized my Birdman for the surreal video. this one doesn't have to morph, so I was able to cut back on the geometry. If I got rid of the smooth version of the pants, it would be a near game ready model! I cannot wait to animate him. I'm hoping to have the video done this week, but I wont post it here until I show it in school in about a month :(

Stone Mtn

This is a recreation I did of the 'Stone Mountain memorial' I made for a friend.

I made 3 figures in Zbrush and combined them into 1 Height-map.

Bird Man

Another piece for my surreal animation.
This is the near-ending of a morph sequence where a man turns into a bird.

A small WIP.

Here are some shots of a female model I'm working on in ZBrush.
The base mesh was made in Maya, and was my first human model in Maya (not my first human model though!).

I just started it, so it needs some obvious work.
I'll post more images when I get time to work on this.

While I was suposed to be sleeping...

I stayed up until 2:00 last night(or should that be "this morning"?) Starting and finishing a new scene. This will probably go into the surrealist inspired experimental animation I wrote of in my last post, but I'll write more on that later.

It was mostly made using Zbrush and photoshop, so I'm going to project the final image of the head, with all the grassy fibers into the texture maps, if I decide to animate it.

First post

Hello, My name is Brian. The name of my blog, "GolemShaper" is a loose description of my work.

I'm a CG artist, focused on modeling and sculpting especially. I give life to the "golems"of my work through animation and computer games.

I attend the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

I'll let this first post kick off with my latest piece. It's a conceptual render that may hopefully end up in an experimental animation I'm making.
